Christmas Traditions

All families have a range of different Christmas traditions! Here are a few of mine:

Christmas Decorations

Christmas Tree
Every year my family gets a real tree. We generally get it two weeks before Christmas Day, but this year has been so hectic we ended up only getting it about a week before. It just doesn't feel like Christmas until all of the decorations are up and the smell fills the house! I would describe our tree as a very 'family' Christmas tree. It's filled with decorations that we've either had for decades or that my siblings and I made as children. We have an angel that sits on top surrounded by what I'm sure is the oldest piece of tinsel in existence. We also have a 'present angel' that is placed at the bottom of the tree and protects our presents. It was made by a family friend. One of my favourite decorations is the bauble which my mum bought me at Walt Disney World when we visited in 2013.

The Grinch
On Christmas Eve, my sister and I always watch my favourite Christmas film 'Dr Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas'.

Our traditional breakfast is Christmas ham on toast and is something I look forward to every year!

The Kids Deliver Presents
When it's present time in our extended family, my aunt will go to the Christmas tree with all the children (although most of us are in our teens now) and hand us presents. We will then take them to the recipients until the bottom of the tree is empty!

Christmas is definitely my most favourite time of the year. What are some of your Christmas traditions?

  1. It sounds like you've got some lovely traditions, it definitely doesn't feel like Christmas though until all the decorations are up!

  2. I love the Christmas movie tradition. My family ends up just eating and opening presents whilecompletely forget about the movies! I'll be sure to force them to watch a Christmas movie with me this year.

    Great Post & Happy Holidays!

    1. We generally watch all our movies in the lead up to Christmas, because everything is so hectic on Christmas Day!

  3. I love the idea of a present angel, so sweet! We've got a couple of traditions. One is that My Mum always decorates the table beautifully on Christmas Eve and the other is that we aren't allowed to open our 'main presents' until after dinner, which is normally about 2pm. xx

  4. We don't have any traditions because the main season we celebration is Chinese New Year :) But for Christmas day, we will be having a nice breakfast out :) Merry Christmas Hannah!
